I am a retired police officer and live in the southern Peak District in England.
I have been keen on photography ever since I was given a Pentax K1000 camera for my 18th birthday and I then progressed to a Bronica ETRS medium format camera for wedding photography. With the onset of the digital age, I purchased a Canon DSLR to attach to my telescopes (a 3.5", a 4", a 90mm Maksutov telescope and an 8" Newtonian) to record the night sky from my observatory in Derby. However, when I came to move house,. I had to leave the observatory behind and subsequently sold my telescopes to purchase my current camera setups of a Canon 1D, a 7D and a 40D along with lenses ranging from full frame fish-eye (8mm) to a fixed focal length lens (50mm) and three tilt-shift lenses (17mm, 24mm and 90mm).
I am inspired to seek images that are "outside of the box" whilst at the same time record the view at the time that the camera shutter button was pressed. I mainly take landscape and architectural images around the UK and further afield (America, Hong Kong, Malta etc). I prefer to take monochrome but all the photos are taken in such a way that allows me to choose the best medium to use but they can be edited to suit the customers preference. I like to record a beautiful scene that, for me, provides a memory and at the same time, is an anonymous and surrealist image that can be used as a form of artwork.
One of my colleagues, Matt Moore, is a successful wedding photographer and he records images of the wedding and at the same time, unseen but important memories for the happy couples that have employed him. He has won awards for his work (Wedding Industry Awards WInner for 2022, IDO Wedding Finalist for 2018, 2019 and 2022, and Top 3 Wedding Photographer in Derby 2021 and 2022. Please take time to visit his website (www.mattmoorephotography.co.uk) to see the work he does with weddings.
